Ohio transfer tax

Ohio charges a real property conveyance fee made of a mandatory statewide 1 mill ($1 per $1,000) plus a county permissive tax of up to 3 mills. Most counties charge a total of $2–$4 per $1,000 (0.2%–0.4%), usually paid by the seller.

Nearly every county adds a permissive real property transfer tax of up to 3 mills (ORC 322.02). Example: Franklin County charges $3 per $1,000 in total ($1 + $2); many counties charge the full $4 per $1,000.
