About TransferTaxHQ

TransferTaxHQ is an independent reference for real estate transfer taxes in the United States. Rates come from state statutes and revenue departments, county recorders and finance offices, and city and municipal codes. Large tables — like Pennsylvania's municipal and school-district rates and Washington's local REET rates — are parsed from the official state files, and every page shows the source and the date we last checked it.

Transfer taxes change: cities add tiers, states adjust thresholds, and voters pass new taxes. If you see an outdated number, email hello@transfertaxhq.com with the source and we'll fix it.

The calculator shows the customary payer. Contracts, exemptions, entity transfers and local rules can change the final amount — your title company, escrow officer or closing attorney has the last word.

TransferTaxHQ is free. It may earn a commission from some links (for example, to agent-matching services); that never affects the rates shown.
