New Jersey transfer tax

New Jersey charges a graduated Realty Transfer Fee (RTF) on every deed, about 0.4%–0.78% under $350,000 and roughly 1%–1.2% above that. Sales of homes over $1 million also owe the Graduated Percent Fee (formerly the "mansion tax") of 1%–3.5% of the entire price. Since July 10, 2025 the seller is legally responsible for both.

No county or municipal transfer taxes; the RTF is collected by the county clerk/register and partly shared with counties.
